It is possible for large accomplishments to fall to the side when other big things are happening. This happened in Virginia Wesleyan’s Athletic Department.
Nancy Kelly is a senior guard for the women’s basketball team, and she has racked up the numbers in her career thus far. In Kelly’s almost four years, she has always been in the top three on the squad for points per game and rebounds per game. She has never failed to be number one on her team in field goal percentage.
The athletic department has skimmed over the fact that as of February 12, 2015, the Phoenix, Maryland native has accumulated 509 rebounds in her career. She has achieved this in just 104 games she has played, and she has three games left in the regular season. Kelly’s point totals will continue to rise as she continues to play and moves on into the conference tournament with her team.
This performance was overlooked by the athletic department because of another women’s basketball accomplishment by her fellow teammate. Senior Brittany Glasco is now over 500 rebounds and 1,000 points in her career at Virginia Wesleyan. Both accolades are notable to the history of the Marlin team.
The Marlins continue their regular season with a match against ODAC rival Guilford this Saturday at 2 p.m.
