The Marlins began their long stretch of conference games against the Randolph College Wildcats.
Just 30 seconds into the match Brittany Glasco fouled Chelsea Tyler to give the Wildcats a head start. That one point lead didn’t last long as the Marlins came out with a fury. Senior leadership was a big factor in the first half. Kerri Taylor and Andrea Paphites both led the team with nine points apiece. The half ended with the Marlins leading 40-16.
The second half wasn’t as full of points as the first, but Virginia Wesleyan still showed that they were the dominant team. Paphites added seven more points in the half to lead the team with 16 points total. The Marlins showed their depth by using 15 out of 16 players on their roster.
The Marlins defeated the Wildcats by 18 points for a 56-38 final.
Their next game will be at Washington and Lee University on Jan. 24. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
